This year we will feature an eclectic assortment of interesting maps from around the North Valley and beyond. Get the bird’s eye view of our local landscape features. Stroll through maps in the CHFC hallway and let your curiosity take you on a tour.

A Northwest Pacific Native People’s story, The "Loon’s Necklace" tells how the Loon got its distinctive band around its neck.

Nature crafts and other special activities for children of all ages will be taking place throughout the weekend. Learn bird identification, make a bird call, attend a birding investigation lab, take a closer look at feathers, get banded like a bird and much, much more!

Meet "Checkers" a Great Horned Owl as Marilyn shares some fascinating facts, unique habits, and curious myths about these beautiful birds of prey. Learn about wildlife rehabilitation and what you can do to help native wildlife. A surprise visit by other raptors is sure to delight all ages.

Enjoy a storytelling event, when Adrienne Scott and Heather McCafferty, of CSU Chico’s Valene L. Smith Museum of Anthropology give a dramatic re-telling of this Northwest Pacific tale. Afterward, children can make a "loons necklace" to take home to remember the loon’s gift to her people.

Join other youth, ages 7yrs and up, and learn to identify in words the sights, sounds & sense of nature, write a poem, and then present it to the larger group (optional). Free to participants - must sign up prior to the event time. Limit: 15 youth.
